4 excellent reasons to be part of Researchers’ Night

Think science is just complex mathematical formulas and white lab coats? Afraid not! The 6th annual Researchers’ Night rendezvous will prove that science can be festive, committed – and even a bit rebellious.

Here are 4 excellent reasons to come demonstrate your love for research on November 14 at the Biodôme and the Planétarium:

1. Because it’s a unique one-night-only event

Each year, an eclectic creative committee reflects on the upcoming edition and draws inspiration from current events and sociocultural trends in designing the next theme. This year, that theme celebrates the love of science, with references to historic peaceful demonstrations, and at the same time seeks to ignite a wave of support for scientists. With over a hundred researchers ready to share their discoveries, you’ll be able to exchange your astonishment for fascinating explanations.

2. Because you’ve never seen a lecture…in bed

The Science bed-in, inspired by the famous Yoko Ono and John Lennon happening, offers intimate, engaging lectures hosted by the columnist and humorist Manal Drissi. Four female researchers will be bringing their passion and conviction to the proceedings, as though they were sharing their research with you via pillow talk, snuggling under the comforter!

3. Because you don’t want to miss visiting the Biodôme... at night!

Need a Zen break between two heated discussions? Head to the Biodôme for a nocturnal visit to the tropical rain forest and Laurentian maple forest. What do the animals do when the lights go out? That’s what you’ll discover in a peaceful atmosphere, one that respects wildlife.

4. Because there will be a space for dialogue open to all

It’s not every day the opportunity comes along to take part in a large group discussion where scientists, artists and the public exchange ideas on the complexity of sharing our living space and dreaming up ways of bringing about change. Come dream of a fairer city and discuss subjects like “When space becomes vacant...”and “Can local action really change things?”

And that’s just a taste! You’ll also get to:

  • add your slogan to a group mural in Let’s sing resistance;
  • immerse yourself in 360° microdocumentaries that take your mind on a journey;
  • and even “borrow” a scientist in a living library.

Come chant your love of science at Researchers’ Night. You’re expected on November 14 at the Biodôme and the Planétarium.
